When I go to the supermarket, sometimes they can’t sell the end of the tail from the beef fillet, so they cut it – well, I grab it very quickly, as it is ideal for a dish like this, or perhaps for a stir fry.
Beef Stroganoff has become popular around the world – it was very popular in the 70s and the 80s I was told. When my friend’s Mother from France used to visit, she would make this dish a lot, but she never actually used the fillet of beef that you would get served in a restaurant, but she used the cut from some sirloin of beef.
In France, most housewives are very proud of going first thing in the morning to the market to get all their vegetables, meat and fish. I respect women who know exactly what they want when it comes to food shopping. I love it when I visit my sister, but she always manages to have gone and come back from the market by the time I get up. It’s a shame that where I live we don’t have a market like the ones in France – I would love that.
