Chocolate and Cherry Brownies

Chocolate and Cherry Brownies

There is one thing I can say for certain – these Chocolate and Cherry Brownies are quite simply irresistible. Lovely –  fudge-like but slightly chewy with a rich chocolate taste along with succulent cherries as a bonus! Gooey and spectacular on the inside, yet slightly chewy and crispy on the outside. Always best served hot from the oven – this is for serious chocolate lovers, although they are still really light. In my opinion this recipe beats any chocolate cake every time. Once you make Chocolate and Cherry Brownies you will experience chocolate paradise. (I’m sure that must be a real place…..)

I strongly recommend that you try this recipe, it’s not just easy but so thrilling to show off to your friends and family. My husband thinks I should drizzle it with even more chocolate, but I think we all have our limits! If you are chocoholic and love Chocolate and Cherry Brownies, then this is the recipe for you. If you’re worried about your waistline, then make them anyway and give them away to friends and family as special gifts (I bet you won’t be able to resist at least one, though!)

I think nearly all my family and friends have tried this recipe and they loved it. I know my daughter has and she couldn’t get enough of them – she took some to work and all her colleagues wanted to place orders for them!  This dessert is so versatile that you can make it any time of the day or the year, you can also add to it any kind of filling and it will taste just as good.

I would just like to say that I actually hand-picked these cherries from a nearby field. I had so many I did not know what to do with them so I thought I’d better decorate my brownies. They are very small but very sweet.

Instructions
  1. Melt the butter and the dark chocolate over some simmering water, mix well until all melted. Leave to cool down.
  2. Meanwhile, whisk the eggs with the sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Once the chocolate and butter have cooled down, add to the eggs and sugar and fold in.
  4. Mix the flour and the cocoa powder with the salt. Sieve over the mixture and fold in.
  5. Pour into a prepared 6" by 12" tray on grease-proof paper then decorate with fresh cherries and the squares of white chocolate. Bake on a middle shelf, gas mark 4/180c for 25-30 mins.
  6. Leave on the grease proof paper to cool down. The longer you leave them the better they will get. Peel off the paper and then dust with icing sugar. Slice into squares.
  7. I hand picked these lovely cherries from the tree when I went for a walk. All though they are small they are very sweet indeed.
