The first time I have ever tried Indonesian Prawn Curry it was while we were on holiday in Bali. As soon as I returned home I started cooking every dish that I had! I had fun making all those dishes. I did not find the spices difficult to learn at all. They use red shallots which I have never used them before. I also grow them now in my garden and what a success they are. I have dried them and plaited them and hung them up in my kitchen ready for when I need them.
I love meeting new people who can introduce me to new recipes, and this lovely Indonesian Prawn Curry recipe has been given to me by a lovely woman who I met in Bali – her name was Tumi, and we had great fun teaching each other various recipes – you will find plenty of other delicious Indonesian treats among my recipes – I can’t get enough of the wonderful and varied recipes and ideas from that beautiful country. That is one of the great things about travelling – you get to meet so many great cooks and chefs along the way. It’s not surprising that all the TV cookery series always have a chef travelling all over the world for inspiration.
Many of my friends who have tried my cooking have loved it. Well…. I have a surprise for them, as next time we get together I will cook them this beautiful Indonesian food which I am sure they have not tried before, and they will love it.

Don't over-cook the prawns - they will end up tough.
