Pimm’s on Ice

Pimm’s on Ice

Pimm’s on ice!  Wow!  Who doesn’t enjoy a great cool summer drink? Well I certainly do! This is a very old-fashioned British drink. Almost as much of a tradition as a cup of English tea.

I think it’s a  lovely refreshing drink, and perhaps everyone makes it a bit differently, I have certainly made it in all sorts of ways. One day I had one very ripe banana and so I added it to the mixture and it made it really interesting, bringing out a completely different flavour – it kind of perfumed the whole drink.

There is a traditional way of how to serve this beautiful drink, but like I said I prefer it this way. I know in the picture the jug is only half full and it’s not a brilliant photo, but I made it for my husband and I whilst we were chilling in the garden on a Friday evening – some of it had already been enjoyed!.

As I had already taken this photo of my drink and put it on Google+,  some of my friends had never heard of it, so I thought to myself that I’d add the recipe to my blog, so I did. I do hope some of you who never tried this drink will make it and enjoy it as much as we did.

Now let’s make some and see how fruity it is:

Instructions
  1. Make sure your jug is very cold.
  2. Put everything in apart from the ice and stir well
  3. Leave in the fridge until your guests arrive.
  4. Now your guests are here, add the ice and serve in a tall glass - not a wine glass.
Recipe Notes

The reason for the ripe banana is to give it a very nice aroma.
