Instructions
  1. In a food processor, cream the butter and the sugar, then add the vanilla, salt and cream cheese. Mix well then by hand add the sieved flour and bind together.
  2. Divide the dough into two, then add a red natural food colouring to one ball and mix well until all combined, Leave one plain.
  3. Wrap both balls separately in cling film and chill in the fridge for about 5 hrs
  4. Preheat the oven to gas mark 2/150c
  5. Remove from the fridge and leave it for 5 mins. Then lightly dust the work surface with flour and roll out the plain dough.
  6. Cut the biscuits out using a heart shape cutter and bake on a lightly greased baking tray place in a middle shelf then bake for 7 minutes, then Remove from the oven and leave to cool on a wire rack.
  7. Repeat the above process with the red coloured dough.
  8. Or you can make a marble effect by using the left over pastry and mix together, like the photo.
  9. You can make them half and half as the photo shows. This makes for a nice design that is quite attractive.
  10. When you cut your red icing hearts add a little jam to stick them on top of the plain biscuits that you have made.
  11. Once you have completed all these steps, you’ll have a great collection of hearts! Here you have your mixture of biscuits.
Recipe Notes

I bought the red icing, as it’s so easy and cheap these days to get. You can make your own if you wish.
